Demister Pad of Description


A 304L stainless steel wire mesh demister pad is a high-efficiency gas–liquid separation component designed for chemical columns and process vessels. It is constructed from low‑carbon 304L stainless steel wire (typically 0.25–0.28 mm diameter), knitted into a multilayer, crimped mesh structure with a bulk density of 144 kg/m³. This grade offers excellent corrosion resistance, superior weldability, and toughness compared to standard 304, making it ideal for chemical environments.

Demister Pad Features


1. High Void Volume

Standard pads feature a voidage of 97% to 99%. This ensures that the gas flow is largely unobstructed, maintaining a very low pressure drop—a critical factor in distillation where pressure stability affects the boiling points of the chemicals being separated.

2. Structural Rigidity

SS304 is a robust material that maintains its shape and density even under the constant thermal cycling and physical stress of a high-pressure distillation environment.

3. Cost-to-Performance Ratio

While materials like SS316 or Monel are used for highly corrosive acids, SS304 offers the best balance of corrosion resistance and affordability for:

Sectional Design: Large pads are made in "manway-sized" blocks for easy installation through the tower's access ports.

Variable Densities: The mesh can be knitted more or less densely depending on whether the target is "standard" separation or "fine" mist removal.
